All Shook Up
How many students would give up a string of school nights, Saturday’s, and all those Monday Holiday’s during the winter to hang out at School? Any former thespian will tell you it’s the cast of a high school musical! This year’s cast at Licking Heights is no different! When most kids are watching America Idol or playing video games the cast of All Shook Up has been hard at work learning their lines, choreographing their steps, and perfecting their pitches. The parents and friends know the hours of dedication these students put in to create the “perfect show.”
All Shook Up is a Broadway Musical inspired by and featuring the music of Elvis Presley. The musical takes you back to the summer of 1955 in a small “you-never-heard-of-it” town in the Midwest. Through the music of Elvis we explore what life is like for the residences of that town during one 24 hour period. We meet Natalie, a teenager who is bored with life in a small town, played by Sarah Dudley; Jim, Natalie’s widower Dad, played by Lance Auten; Chad, the leather jacketed stranger to town, played by Brian Hupp ; Sylvia, Jim’s friend and single Mom, played by Destiny Coleman; Lorriane, Sylvia’s daughter, played by Brianna Robinson; Dennis, the average teenage boy that no one notices and friend of Natalie’s, played by Keith Tankersly; Ms. Sandra, the curator of the local art museum, played by Megan Searls; Mayor Matilda Hyde, the small town ethical Mayor (who doesn’t like that new music), played by Samantha Little; Dean Hyde, the mayor’s son who goes to a Military school, played by Brian Klinect; and Sherriff Earl, Mayor Hyde’s quiet side kick, played by Brandon Walsh. The musical showcases the talent of 55 Licking Heights students from grades 6-12.
